AFSA National Scholarship Essay Contest
This is an easy one! The AFSA National Scholarship Essay Contest is sponsored by the American Fire Sprinkler Association. Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck at Prom Contest
The Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck on Prom Contest is open to students age 14 years or older who are attending a high school prom in the spring. US citizenship is required. Entrants must enter as a couple (two individuals) and attend a high school prom wearing complete attire or accessories made from duct tape. The submission must include a color photograph of the couple together in prom attire. The first place prize consists of a $3,000 scholarship for each member of the winning couple and a $2,500 cash prize to the school that hosted the prom. Other prizes include $1,000 for second place, $500 for third, and Duck Tape sportswear for honorable mentions. The winning couple will be selected based on a variety of criteria, including originality, workmanship, quantity of Duck Tape used, use of colors, and creative use of accessories. Family Dollar "Make a Powerful Difference" essay contest

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

$20,000 scholarship offered to students who have critical financial need (less than $50,000/year) , involvement in co-curricular/community activities, and a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Voice of Democracy Essay Contest
The Voice of Democracy Essay Contest is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW). The audio essay contest is open to high school students in grades 9-12. The first-place national winner receives a $25,000 scholarship. The essay topic is "Service and Sacrifice by America 's Veterans Benefit Today's Youth by ... The BRICK Awards
The BRICK Awards by Do Something provide a $5,000 scholarship and a $5,000 grant to "change-makers" age 18 and under who work with Do Something to improve their communities. A $10,000 grant is available to those aged 19-25. The competition is open to Americans and Canadians. Of the twelve BRICK Award recipients, four will be selected as Golden BRICK winners and receive an additional $15,000. The deadline is December 1. National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship

Seniors with a 3.0 GPA who actively participate in hunting sports. An essay, autobiolgraphy, and three letters of recommendation are required for this $250-$10,000 scholarship. Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Contest

The Sikh Coalition Scholarship

An 1,000-1,500 word essay competition focusing on examining issues that confront our societies in the post Sept. 11 world. John C. Stennis Scholarships in Political Science

MSU offers a $2,000 a year scholarship (for four years) to graduating seniors who have a high school average of B or better and are of good character. Students must major in political science and maintain a B average with a course load of 15 hours.  Interested students need to complete an application along with two letters of reference and a seven semester transcript by February 1, 2010 .  Please see Mrs. Hamblin or call 325-2224 for more information.

Ole Miss Luckyday Scholarship

You must apply for admissions and scholarships to Ole Miss by February 1, have a 20 on your ACT, 3.2 GPA, and turn in a completed FAFSA form by February 15, 2010 . You could receive up to $7,000 a semester. Go to http://www.olemiss.edu/student_life/luckyday/apply.html.

Scholarships for Military Children

Girls Going Places Scholarship
The Girls Going Places Scholarship is sponsored by Guardian Life Insurance Company of America . It awards prizes totaling $30,000 to 15 girls aged 12-18 who have demonstrated budding entrepreneurship. USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

Scholastic Scholarship Contest

Entrants must be high school juniors or seniors. You must compose a 500-word essay that describes an event or experience that had a positive influence on the way that you approach financial management. 2010 Holocaust Remembrance Project

Ten first-place winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. , a gold medal, and a Certificate of Participation PLUS a scholarship ranging from $2,500 to $10,000.
