BALDWYN ELEMENTARY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Children may register from 8:00-3:30 on the elementary campus. Children who are 5 years old on or before September 1, 2009 will be eligible for kindergarten. It is very important that all eligible children register so that plans can be made for the coming year. All of the following items will be required by the time school starts in August 2009, but are not required for this registration. Student Registration Information We are delighted that you chose to register your child with the Baldwyn School District ! We are committed to equipping our students with the tools necessary to achieve academic success. The State of Mississippi provides for a uniform system of free public education for grades kindergarten through twelve. Students are required to attend school in the district where the parent/guardian is a legal resident. The student physically resides full time, weekdays/nights and weekends at a place of abode within the limits of the school district. Residency is defined as follows: All students seeking to enroll or to continue enrolling in this district will be required to provide proof of residency. A parent/guardian must accompany students and provide at least two of the items numbered below as verification of legal residency; any document with a post office box as an address will not be accepted:
In cases of guardianship, in addition to the above proof of residency requirement, the guardian must provide a certified copy of the final decree when it is granted. Any legal guardianship formed for the purpose of establishing residency for school district attendance shall not be recognized by the affected board. Ref:37-15-34 c New students must also provide a certified copy of their birth certificate, social security card, a certificate of compliance with state immunization requirements (Form 121), and the name and address of the school formerly attended. For returning students who have moved to another address in the district, the parent/guardian must provide the same evidence of residency as all new students. The above are minimum requirements, and the school district may require additional documentation and verification at any time. |
